Thanks to the prayerful and financial support of our congregation, we completed our 30 Hour Famine! It wasn’t easy…but we had a fantastic time.

Best of all, we raised $765.25, which can help feed and care for 2 children for an entire year! If you look on the Student table in the lobby, you will find the pictures of Elvin Eduardo and Jessy Maria. Because of RidgeStudents, their lives will be forever changed. That’s a pretty incredible accomplishment on these student’s behalf. Thank you for your contributions!

Our weekend consisted of four main service projects. First, we volunteered for the Thrive Festival where Sanctus Real performed, and Jose Zayas cast a vision for a joint effort of churches all over the upstate to evoke change in our city through community service and random acts of kindness. After spending the night at Lookup Lodge in cardboard boxes we served a meal at Greer Soup Kitchen, just as students were reaching 24hrs without food themselves. We worked at Ruby Beck’s home for 2 hours, cleaning it from top to bottom, trimming grass, planting flowers, and repairing her broken down wheelchair ramp. We went to the Miracle Hill Boys Shelter and cleaned their activity buses inside and out, and played a few games of basketball with them before returning home finally to eat our break-fast meal together.

As a final twist, the students were given shopping bags rather than plates to eat a spaghetti meal provided by the King Growth Group. We had seen many people do this at the Soup Kitchen earlier in the day. This may have been the moment where many of them really began to understand what people right here in the North Greenville region are feeling every day. Thank you for your support!
